Whether the ball is above your feet or below your feet.
What you need to understand here is that the ball, whether you're chipping or hitting from the fairway, the ball is going to follow the slope.
In this case the slope is like this, my ball is going to hook.
As you know, when you are hitting a hook the ball will run more.
Having just that basic knowledge when I'm going to chip this shot here, that helps me play this shot.
I know I have to fly it just on the front of the green.
I have to aim a little bit for the right.
The main difference here is just use your knees and/or your chest to make this shot more normal.
If I would normally be here, I'm going to be this direction.
My swing is going to be a lot flatter, a lot more around which is going to help with that hook.
As long as I aim out to the right I can hit that little pull and have it kind of run up there towards that hole.
Now, conversely if I flip this way and hit it back over the camera what we're going to understand is that I've got to get a lot more this direction.
I'm going to have my knee flex allow me get down to the ball.
Now, if I swung this club back normal or to the inside when I swing through the T of the club is going to hit the ground and it's going to shut the face down.
I'm not going to have any control over it.
What I've got to do is I've got to match my swing to the slope.
If you could imagine normal, "Well, man, I've got to get my hands up that high.
How do I do that?"
As I come here I get tall on it and I'm going to swing the club outside and really feel like I can get more out to in or if it's a cutting swing if you could feel that.
My hands are going to be high.
I'm going to hit a little cut shot.
This will have a lot more spin on it.
It'll be a lot more softer.
When this ball comes through here it's a very soft, delicate shot.
I have to apply that when I'm figuring out what shot I'm trying to hit.
Understand that what the golf course gives you, you can't fight it.
You must embrace that situation.
Just understand, what do I have to do with my setup and/or swing to adjust so I can pull this shot off.
Remember, when the ball is below your feet make your swing match that lie.
You have to get your club going more out to in.
When the ball is above your feet you have to swing it flatter and the ball with have more of a draw.
Therefore, you're going to have to take that into account when you figure out where you want to land the ball.
Understanding what the ball is going to do off this lie is imperative.
If you have the knowledge beforehand you're like my favorite quarterback Aaron Rodgers, you know where you're going before the ball even is thrown.
You do that and you'll go to the NFC championship and a lot more Superbowls just like the Packers.
