Speaker 1: Welcome back to our 10-yard guarantee mini clinic.
Today what we're going to discuss is creating width in the swing.
Remember, with the Perfect Connection golf swing I teach a 3/4-width swing.
This is extremely important, so what we're going to start off with here is we're just going to go ahead and set the driver on the ground and we're going to place our left hand in front of it.
We're going to take our right hand and place it over the top like this.
Now as I swing back I just want to feel as though my right arm stays straight.
That's going to create the width, it's going to make sure that I'm turning my body behind the ball, so if I can keep that width just like that, you can actually hear it in my voice, the muscles are winding up and it's harder for me to speak.
Now just try that again and put your right hand in front, put your left hand over and feel as if your left arm is going to stay straight.
We're just going to wind up this way, you can again hear it as I'm winding, just keeping the left arm straight.
That's a great way to create that width in your swing, which is extremely important for the driver.
Now as I take my driver here, I'm going to that feeling.
Now, with the Perfect Connection golf swing, we want to create the L at half-way back, but we are still going to create width.
A lot of times I see players kind of getting in here where their arms are bending.
It's what I like to call alligator arms where their arms are kind of short, so as we set up here with the driver, just feel as if you're taking the club low and slow up back.
You're trying to create this width as the ball or the club head moves away from the ball this way.
As you get to the top, I want this width here.
I want to be able to throw a football between your hands and your head.
It's simply going to look like this, creating that width, and then as you go through it, it'll look just like this.
I'm going to feel as though I'm taking the club back slow and low, creating width, and then I can swing through.
That's what I need and that's what we need to do to get that 10 yards into your swing.
