Golf Fundamentals: Grip Basics
Stephen Aumock, PGA
Speaker 1: One of the things that I see amateurs get incorrect about the grip on a regular basis is a simple tip that I think will go a long way for your golf game.
What you want to do is pinch your thumb into your hand.
When you do this, you're flexing this small muscle here in each hand.
It allows you to have a little greater control of your grip, greater control of the club.
It makes your grip airtight.
Not to say that you have to squeeze really hard, because we all know you don't want to do that.
But you do want your grip to be pretty much airtight.
By pinching your thumb into your hand, and what I call zipping up your zipper on both hands, you really can go a long way to controlling the face of the club and hitting more consistent golf shots.
