How to Maintain Loft on Your Chipping Stroke
Brad Ott, PGA
Brad Ott: Hi, this is Brad Ott, director of instruction out here at TPC Correct Ranch.
Today I want to show you a little bit of a trick shot that I have.
I actually use it for a reason.
I try to maintain loft in my chipping stroke whenever I'm using different clubs.
One of the things I do to test to see if I'm able to do that is, I'll try and catch the golf ball.
This is a little trick shot I do every once in a while.
Some of you may have seen me do it if you're driving by, but I actually have a reason for it.
All I do is, I open the face up and if I put a pretty good swing on it, I should be able to catch the golf ball.
I should be able to catch it with my hand.
There's a little bit of step involved, but if I'm able to slide the club under it, that tells me that I'm maintaining loft, and that's real important in chipping.
