Speaker 1: Hey, CJ here from ShortGameSecrets.com and I want to kind of show you something here.
What we're looking at, well, we're looking at the Sam Putt lab.
The Sam Putt Lab is a machine that will ultimately use ultrasound and you attach it to your putter and it measures 28 things with your putting.
I was the ...
That's a lot of things to measure with your putting but one of the first things I want to discuss with you guys and that's so important and that is your face aim.
This was mine here.
This was pretty good, obviously, a 0.0.
What that tells me is that my putter fits me.
In other words, my eyes.
That's very good.
Now obviously, if you break down each one individually, I'm a little close, a little close, slightly open, slightly open, but very minimal.
It takes one degree off to miss a 12 footer, so, as we go through here just so everyone's not thinking that I'm, you know, whatever perfect, because I'm not, there's my face at impact.
As we kind of pull back here and I want to discuss face aim for you.
When you are using a putter, understand in this case, if you are a right aimer, if you're someone that misses the putt to the right, the more you get a putter that has stuff going on behind it, lines, balls, all this stuff.
Anything that's here.
What happens is your eye is drawn back towards this area and it gets the face to square up.
This is actually the putter I use, which is the number seven.
I can line this up really well because of this.
Again, if you are a person that has a tendency to miss left, you would want something more like this.
This one actually has a plumber's neck.
You would actually want more of a straight hosel.
You wouldn't even want the plumber's neck and or you would want nothing up here.
You'd want ...
even this has one line.
Notice the line's not behind it.
Again, the more your eye gets drawn forward, the more that's going to have a tendency to aim you to the right.
Make sure that when you are practicing ...
Have one of your friends stand behind you and figure out if you're aiming properly.
Because the key is ...
Depending on the putter you're using, that may have everything that's ...
If you are missing it right, try to get something that has a little bit more business going on behind the putter head.
If you're missing it, obviously, to the left, go with something that's a little bit more center-shafted and to have ...
Understanding just what the eye does and what the design of these putters is, that will help you make a lot more putts.
First, by starting to aim it correctly and then learning to roll it better.
